Job Summary
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) / Paraprofessional to support students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and communication needs. Responsibilities include providing direct student support, implementing behavior and instructional plans, collecting data, collaborating with staff, and promoting student independence and success in a school setting.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide direct support to students in academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill development.
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized education programs (IEPs) under the supervision of certified staff.
Collect and maintain accurate behavioral and instructional data.
Support students in general education and specialized instructional settings.
Assist students with organization, task completion, communication, and social interactions.
Utilize positive behavior supports and de-escalation strategies as needed.
Support students during transitions, lunch, recess, community-based activities, and other school routines.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, special education staff, behavior specialists, and related service providers.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with district policies and federal regulations.
Participate in required trainings and professional development activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
RBT certification required
Experience working with children preferred
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with students with diverse educational and behavioral needs
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
Associate degree preferred
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Salary and Benefits
Pay and benefits in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Unit of AFSCME, 6.5 hours per day, with a starting wage of $21.00 per hour.
