Job description

Registered Dental Assistant Level 2We are recruiting for a Registered Dental Assistant Level 2 to join one of our state of the art facilities.The Registered Dental Assistant 2 is to provide overall assistance to the dental provider and patients. The Registered Dental Assistant 2 is to perform all functions which may be performed by a dental assistant and registered dental assistant 1. Under general supervision of a dentist, The RDA 2 assists with oral surgery and other procedures. Prepares and arranges needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures. Hands necessary tools and equipment and provides assistance during treatment. Charts findings, change barriers, and sterilizes equipment. The RDA 2 must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the dental field and performs a variety of tasks. The RDA 2 will assist in ensuring smooth patient flow. In addition, the RDA 2 takes lead on ordering of dental department supplies and maintenance of dental equipment in addition to oversight of all infection control and OSHA logs and binders at the health center. The RDA 2 will also be responsible for overseeing and taking lead of the RDA column and will assist the provider with completing all treatment within their scope.ResponsibilitiesThis position will work closely with the Dental Assistant Supervisor. This position will assist with dental department oversight at their specific site in collaboration with the Dental Assistant Supervisor.This position will:Provide support for the dental department and ensure proper communication is given to the Dental Assistant SupervisorProactively manages provider appointment schedules to ensure provider templates are correctly applied and ensures provider appointments are scheduled appropriately.Works alongside the Dental Assistant Supervisor to provide appropriate training and staff development as needed at their assigned health center.Require that RDA and DA functions be performed daily.Performs and coordinates site audits/visits (formal and informal) between clinical and operations to ensure readiness for site audits/visits (OSHA, Delta Dental etc.).Provides prompt dental support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of the back office, equipment, and supplies.Works flexible or extended hours where necessary.Participates in health center in-services and meeting, listening and respecting others' ideas.Abides by Rules of Confidentiality.PERFORMANCE AREA 1:Reviews provider schedules and productivity measures and guides the dental team to achieve compliance with UHC directives.Will work closely with the dentist and dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow and the effective delivery of services.Assumes other responsibilities as directed by Dental Assistant SupervisorOversees ordering of dental department supplies and maintenance of dental equipment for dental department. Performs RDA 1 and DA functions daily.Takes lead of the RDA column and assists in performing all treatment under the RDA scope The RDA will identify the treating provider for the visit and work with the site providers who will be managing the overall visitsChild wellness integration with Medical. The RDA will work closely with Medical and promote warm handoffs from Medical to Dental the same day of the child wellness examThe RDA will review the patients which are scheduled in their RDA column and ensure that the patients are there for appropriate services: TYKE recall exams at appropriate frequency6-12 years old Child recall exams and bundled Prophy:Patients should have had a Comp or Recall exam within 6-9 months with no outstanding treatment.SealantsTemporary CrownThe RDA will assist in RDA specific duties when a provider's RDA is unavailable as possible.The RDA will chart in the note templates prior to the dentist reviewingQualificationsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or equivalentMeet all the requirements mandated by the Dental Board of California for obtaining a Registered Dental Assistant licenseLICENSE/CERTIFICATION:Valid Dental Board of California Registered Dental Assistant licenseValid driver's licenseValid Sealant certificationValid lifesaving certificationPRIOR EXPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years of Registered Dental Assisting experience.Knowledge of state and federal regulations.Knowledge and understanding of community health centers mission and role.SKILLSBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredAble to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team playerCustomer-service orientedFamiliar with adult learning and general training techniquesPositive professional insightFlexibility and dependabilityDemonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgmentEffective leadership/supervisory skillsModern office practices and procedures including emailIntermediate computer skillsAttention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasksAble to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyThe hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at $26.62 an hour.
