Job description

Works as part of a team that includes different types of professionals. Goes to scheduled team meetings to discuss patient progress, shown by signing treatment update forms.

Completes initial assessments and evaluations for patients, as shown by the forms filled out in their medical records and notes on their progress.
Creates a care plan for each patient and follows it.

Shows respect by giving praise and encouragement to others.
Communicates clearly and directly with customers, team leaders, and team members.
Gives medication accurately to patients.
Participates in required training and continuing education sessions, as noted in attendance records that go into their personnel file.
Completes all necessary skill requirements each year, as shown by completion forms.
Regular attendance is very important for this job.
Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions.
Other tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director of the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU). They provide nursing care for patients who are very sick. They perform tasks allowed by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is very important for this job.
Able to organize and assess care plans for patients.
Should understand the type of therapy activities that help patients in an Acute Rehabilitation setting.
EDUCATION
Graduate of a Registered Nursing program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Valid Iowa Registered Nurse License or a nursing license from a compact state that allows practice in Iowa.
