Registered Nurse – Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Key Responsibilities:
Assess and monitor patients in the pre-operative and PACU settings to ensure safety and stability before and after surgical procedures
Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, explaining procedures, and addressing concerns
Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, and manage pain and discomfort
Continuously evaluate patient responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions, adjusting care plans accordingly
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly
Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards
Skills and Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
Proven experience in perioperative nursing, PACU, or pre-op nursing preferred
Strong knowledge of anesthesia, surgical procedures, and post-operative care
Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Compassionate, patient-centered approach with excellent communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
BLS and ACLS certification required; additional certifications in perioperative nursing are a plus
