POSITION SUMMARY:
The Peri-Anesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention, pain injections, and diagnostic procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides assessment, patient surveillance and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of any medical or surgical complication that may arise. The Peri-Anesthesia RN determines that the patient is suitable for discharge; and provides patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the post op instructions. The Peri-Anesthesia RN also calls the patient on the first working post op day to check on post op progress.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A graduation certificate from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program, required
ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications, required
Experience in peri-anesthesia or critical care area, preferred
Certificate of course completion in Moderate Sedation, required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong discretion and ability to handle confidential information
Composure in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
Dependable, punctual, and highly detail‑oriented
Strong multitasking and independent‑work capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow established workflows consistently
Knowledge of surgery department procedures, infection control practices and emergency response protocols
