Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Mercy St. Louis’ RN Career Path Program helps new and experienced RNs build strong clinical foundations in our Med/Surg service line and then transition into a specialty unit with support, mentorship, and a clear timeline.
How the pathway works...
Step 1: Start in Med/Surg (12–18 months) in one of these units:
• Observation Telemetry • General Med/Surg
• Neuroscience • Neurosurgical
• Oncology • Orthopedics • Trauma Surgical
Step 2: Transition to a specialty unit (based on readiness, openings, and fit), such as:
• Pediatrics / PICU • Med/Surg ICU
• Trauma/Neuro ICU • CVICU
• Emergency Department • Burn ICU • Float Pool

Qualifications:
Education: Nursing degree from an accredited school
License: Active RN license in Missouri (or compact, if applicable)
Certifications: Current BLS (AHA)
