Job description
The Float RN provides patient-centered care across over 65 inpatient units in a major academic medical center, supporting staffing needs and promoting quality care. This full-time position involves working a 12-hour day shift, with a differential pay, and includes opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within established standards.
Educate patients and families on managing illnesses, medications, and post-discharge care.
Participate in ensuring patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and communicate individualized care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team and patients.
Assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient preferences and barriers.
Maintain safety and adapt to various clinical settings, including high-acuity areas for ICU-experienced nurses.
Qualifications:
Current RN license.
At least 2 years of recent acute Medical-Surgical nursing experience; ICU or critical care experience preferred.
Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently across diverse clinical environments.
