Employment Type: Full Time Days - 3 - 12hr shifts a week
Job Description
UM BWMC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse II to join our 7 West Medical Surgical Unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on the 7 West Medical Surgical Unit in accordance with established standards and protocols.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and intervene appropriately.
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and clinical observations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
Adhere to infection control standards and promote patient safety at all times.
Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced nursing staff as needed.

Job Requirements
Licensure & Certification: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a medical-surgical unit or similar acute care setting.
Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical conditions.
Skills: Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to manage complex patient care situations.
Ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and staff.
Competency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation and use of clinical technology.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements: Commitment to patient safety and quality care standards.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
