Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology
nProgressive Cancer Care – Marion, Indiana
nJob Description:
nThe Progressive Cancer Care team is actively seeking an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse. This individual must be able to work independently and problem solve. The Oncology Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:
nnCollaborates with the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the radiation patient including but not limited to medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiation therapy staff, social work, nutrition, and other health disciplines as needed.
nAssess, educates, and guides patients with a cancer diagnosis through the radiation experience.
nEducates patients/families/significant others about the radiation therapy process, procedures and simulation experience, various treatment modalities, potential side effects and management of those side effects.
nConducts nursing assessment of patients for physical, psychosocial, and learning needs.
nProvides orientation to the department and treatment routine.
nEvaluates psychosocial needs and assists with coping and adjusting to their experience.
nAssists physicians during consultation, weekly status check, and follow-up visits.
nProvides direct nursing care as prescribed by the physician.
n nEducation Requirements:
nnGraduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred)
nOncology Nursing Certification preferred
n nMinimum Requirements:
nnCurrent Indiana RN License
n nCritical Success Factors:
nnExtensive oncology nursing experience
nAbility to work independently and as part of a team
