In this role, you'll fill and verify prescriptions, counsel patients, support your pharmacy team, and help build growth through wellness programs and community outreach.

nWhat You'll Do
nNo two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
nnnProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one
n
nnFill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients in accordance with OBRA '90 regulations and all state and federal statutes and regulations
n
nnAssist with controlled substance inventory on an annual basis or as recommended
n
nnAssist with inventory control including ordering, stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information
n
nnAssist with reconciliation and balancing of third-party accounts and monthly inventory
n
nnAssist the HBC manager with ordering and merchandising over-the-counter products
n
nnCoach, counsel, and train pharmacy employees and participate in additional education and training
n
nnVisit schools, doctor's offices, and senior centers to market pharmacy services
n
nnBuild growth and sales through counseling and wellness programs
n
nnFollow security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance Programs
n
nnAssume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
n
nnPartner with other departments and staff to promote wellness and the pharmacy
n
nnCommunicate continually with the Pharmacy Manager about procedural changes, issues, or corporate communications
n
nnAdminister immunizations as certified
n
nnMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAA
n
nnAdhere to all Hy-Vee policies, store guidelines, and all statutes and regulations pertaining to a registered pharmacist
n
nnReport to work when scheduled and on time
n

nnnApply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving both abstract and concrete variables

nnPerform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately
n
nnCompose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data

nnCounsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadership

nnMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient and financial information

nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Pharmacy Department Manager; Pharmacy Supervisor
nDirect Reports: Pharmacy Technician; Pharmacy Clerk; Delivery Person; Pharmacy Students
nEducation and Experience
nnnCollege degree and licensure in pharmacy required; must maintain continuing education to keep license active
n
nn6 months to 1 year of similar or related work experience required
n
nnMedication Therapy Management (MTM) preferred
n
nnAbility to administer immunizations required
n
n nPhysical Requirements
nnnAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in the pharmacy and dispensing area, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation while verifying and processing prescriptions
n
nnAbility to verify, dispense, and counsel patients on prescriptions, and administer immunizations, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulations
n
nnExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with immunization administration and pharmacy operations
n
nnAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
n
n nWorking Environment
nThis is a fast-paced role in a retail pharmacy where you will handle multiple tasks throughout your shift including filling prescriptions, answering the telephone, and assisting customers. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. This pharmacy handles and prepares hazardous drugs; personnel of reproductive capability should be aware that exposure may cause acute and chronic effects, and that following all pharmacy policies and procedures is essential to minimizing risk. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
nThe anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $58.00 to $68.20 depending on experience.
