This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $7,500
nCleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department located in the state-of-the-art hospital. nAs a Respiratory Therapist, you will support a diverse patient population, with many managing chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. All the while, you will gain extensive hands-on experience in cardiopulmonary assessments, arterial blood gas analysis, oxygenation studies and more. You can also explore the numerous professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic, potentially expanding into higher positions and roles within the hospital.
nA caregiver in this position works 3 12-hour nights from 6:30PM - 7:00AM, with availability to work Monday-Friday and rotating weekends and holidays. A minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period is required.
nFloating between Martin North, Martin South and Tradition Hospitals will be required, as needed.
nA caregiver who excels in this role will:
nnnProvide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients of all ages with respiratory insufficiencies.
n
nnPerform cardiopulmonary assessment to evaluate respiratory status.
n
nnPerform physical exams to assess breath sounds, work of breathing and airway patency.
n
nnReview records, reports and results such as radiologic tests, blood gases, hemodynamic monitoring and pulmonary function tests.
n
nnCollaborate closely with physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
n
nnAdminister medical gases (oxygen, nitric oxide), aerosolized medications, bronchial hygiene and lung re-inflation techniques.
n
nnFollow established protocols, procedures and practices for therapeutic procedures.
n
nnPerform blood gas sampling and arterial line insertion.
n
nnPerform tracheostomy tube changes as directed.
n
nnManage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilators and artificial airways.
n
nnPerform blood gas puncture and analysis, pulse oximetry and bedside pulmonary function testing.
n
nnAssist with bronchoscopy procedures.
n
nnRespond to medical emergencies, participate in trauma and resuscitation procedures and assist with patient transport.
n
nnAssess for age-appropriate educational needs and provide patient and family education about the illness and care plan.
n
nnServe as a preceptor for new employees and students enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program.
n
nnRecord the care and treatment provided following established procedures.
n
n nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnGraduate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program
n
nnDiploma and/or transcripts must be provided for validation
n
nnRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
n
nnState of Florida Department of Health Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
n
nnNeonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as appropriate for site
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
n
nnAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications as appropriate for site
n
n nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnBachelor's Degree
n
nnPrior experience in critical care
n
nnNeonatal/pediatric experience
n
nnPrior experience performing invasive procedures
n
n nPhysical Requirements
nnnGood manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
n
nnNormal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
n
nnMay require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
n
nnMedium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
n
nnPhysical Demand requirements are more than those for Light Work.
n
n nPersonal Protective Equipment
nnFollow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
