Job description
Physical Therapy AssistantThe Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for directing, modifying, and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. The PTA administers treatments and physical agents after an evaluation by the Physical Therapist and assists in the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability resulting from injury, disease, or physical impairment. This role focuses on helping patients achieve their maximum performance and functionality while adapting to their capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.Assist with patient evaluations and follow-up assessments.Participate in operational aspects of the department, including performance improvement activities.Engage in infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational and fire safety programs.Provide care to a diverse patient population, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.Position QualificationsGraduated from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant education program.Typically requires a 2-year degree covering essential topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, and clinical pathology.Experience in the field is preferred but not mandatory.Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska or have appropriate documentation to work as a Student Physical Therapist Assistant while preparing for licensure.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.Work EnvironmentThis position generally operates during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
