About the Role
Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Petroleum Geologist to join their fully remote team, supporting projects relevant to the Welkom region. This critical role involves interpreting subsurface geological data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reserves. You will play a key part in exploration strategy, prospect generation, and resource estimation, working from your home office. Key Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret seismic, well log, and core data to understand subsurface geological structures and stratigraphy.
Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects, defining trap mechanisms and reservoir potential.
Develop detailed geological models and maps, including structural and stratigraphic interpretations.
Collaborate remotely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management to define exploration and development strategies.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration acreage and drilling targets.
Stay abreast of new geological concepts, technologies, and industry trends.
Requirements
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as a petroleum geologist, with a strong focus on exploration and prospect generation.
Proficiency in geological modeling and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
Demonstrated experience with seismic interpretation and well log analysis.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills for a remote work environment.
Proven track record of contributing to successful exploration discoveries.
