As a Research Data Scientist, you will utilize statistical, mathematical and predictive modeling techniques to analyze complex datasets and develop algorithms supporting macular degeneration research, including genetics and imaging. In this role, you will apply programming skills using tools such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar languages to perform data analytics, generate insights and contribute to data-driven decision-making. You will organize, manage and analyze imaging data while providing substantial support to the Data and Analytics and Innovation teams through imaging algorithm development, machine learning and Databricks-related infrastructure and workflows.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Utilize basic statistical, mathematical, and predictive modeling techniques to build algorithms and perform data analytics.
Utilize programming skills in languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
Perform basic data analysis including data validation, investigation, and hypothesis testing.
Assist Principal Investigator in transforming data to support research questions and develop basic predictive and statistical models using modeling tools.
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency in data extraction, reporting, programming, and operations.
Curate and process complex clinical and biological data sets.
Communicate and present research findings as needed.
Identify technical issues and manage resolution for analytics programs.
Interpret research protocols and translate them into analytical requirements.
Run statistical analyses and support machine learning model development.
Generate charts, graphs, and other data visualizations.
Assist with manuscript preparation and publication support.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field and two years of experience conducting data analytics, math or statistical modeling or machine learning
OR Master's or PhD degree
Proficiency with programing skills in languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Familiar with software development, programming, and writing code
Familiar with programing languages including Python, Java, or C/C++
Knowledge applying advanced statistics to complex business problems required (e.g., modeling, AI, ML, Deep Learning (DL), and/or Natural Language Processing (NLP))
Strong business-orientation with the ability to select the appropriate complex quantitative methodologies in response to specific business goals
Healthcare or life science experience
Lead Experience with project management and change management methodologies
Certification or fellowship in analytics, big data, data science or related subject
Technology Partner Certification (in technology, Big Data, business or advanced analytics, data science, analytics) - Microsoft, Oracle, Teradata, IBM, EMC, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Informatica, Tableau, SAS, R, Python
Experience leveraging visualization software and techniques and business intelligence (BI) software
Technical knowledge of distributed computing platforms, and common data process flows from data instrumentation & generation, to ETL, to the data warehouse itself
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
In some locations, ability to move up to 15 pounds

Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
