About the Role
OpenAI is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Reasoning and Planning team. You will be responsible for pushing the boundaries of AI capabilities by developing novel architectures and training paradigms that enhance multi-step reasoning, mathematical problem-solving, and complex planning in frontier models.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and evaluate novel deep learning architectures focused on reasoning and search-based alignment.
Collaborate closely with infrastructure and engineering teams to scale training pipelines efficiently across thousands of accelerators.
Publish research findings in top-tier machine learning conferences and contribute to product development roadmaps.
Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
Proven track record of research publications in core ML venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR).
Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
Deep understanding of transformer architectures, reinforcement learning, and search algorithms.
