Job description

Solutions Account Manager, Research Intelligence, Great Lakes, Michigan

Are you excited by the opportunity to help universities unlock the full potential of AI in research and discovery?

Do you want to partner with academic leaders to shape how science is done, using world‑class data and intelligent technologies?

About our Team

You’ll be at the forefront of transforming how science gets done — putting cutting-edge AI tools and world-class research databases into the hands of faculty, researchers, and university leaders who are driving the world’s most important discoveries. This isn’t a routine sales role. It’s a chance to shape the future of research.

About the Role

As a Solutions Account Manager for Research Intelligence at Elsevier, you will work with academic institutions to transform research workflows through AI‑powered solutions. This role combines strategic account leadership with consultative selling, enabling customers to accelerate discovery, improve decision‑making, and advance their research missions. You will own meaningful, long‑term partnerships that put Elsevier’s research intelligence tools at the center of institutional strategy.

Territory: MI, IA, MN, WI. Residence in one of the respective states is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Drive revenue growth across a portfolio of AI‑powered research intelligence platforms, data licensing, and solutions products

Champion AI‑enabled research discovery, analytics, and insight tools that help customers work faster and more effectively

Use a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and develop tailored, high‑impact solutions

Build and manage strategic relationships with libraries, research offices, and academic leadership teams

Develop and execute account strategies that expand partnerships and deliver long‑term value

Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline management using tools such as Salesforce, Gong and Clari

Gather and share market and competitive insights to inform product and go‑to‑market strategy

Represent Elsevier at academic conferences and higher‑education events to generate meaningful engagement and pipeline

Requirements

Proven experience managing complex accounts and achieving revenue targets in a consultative sales environment

Ability to engage credibly with senior academic, research, or institutional stakeholders

Strong understanding of data, analytics, or technology‑enabled solutions, with curiosity about AI in research

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills

Strategic thinking with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable account plans

Comfort working with CRM and forecasting tools to manage opportunities and performance

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams
