Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Philipp Niethammer Lab as a Research Technician!
The Niethammer lab studies how cells sense physical stress and tissue injury-and how they communicate with immune cells to coordinate healing. We investigate these questions using zebrafish, human cells, microscopy, genetics, and molecular biology.
Role Overview:
Laboratory Support : Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
Techniques & Assays : Perform specialized techniques, such as CRISPR screening, flow cytometry, sterile mammalian tissue culture, cellular transfection (lipofectamine), molecular protein design and engineering,fluorescent Imaging, paraffin tissue processing & embedding.
Animal Handling : Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies, euthanasia, animal-handling and nursery.
Data Management : Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
Collaboration : Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.
Comfort working with zebrafish larvae or adult specimens, including monitoring, behavioral scoring, genotyping, and tailfin amputation.
Core Skills:
Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
Strong scientific curiosity with a proactive approach to learning.
Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers.
Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

Location: NYC
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (onsite)
