Resident Assistant-Temporary-Full TimeOneida Health Rehabilitation & Extended Care - Oneida, NY 13421OverviewSalary Range $17.00 - $17.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift AnyDescriptionJob Summary:This paid entry level position is the pathway to being accepted into the Certified Nursing Assistant training program provided by the Oneida Health Extended Care Facility. The purpose of the Resident Assistant role is to gain experience prior to entering the CNA training program, allowing the employee to better understand the requirements and expectations of a Certified Nursing Assistant, as well as receive a strong introduction to the role and pace of the position.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrates knowledge of age specifics developmental factors specific to the adult geriatric residents (i.e., physical, cognitive, and socialization in planning delivery of care.Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in units/shifts assignments to meet the needs of the resident and facility.Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with Commitment to Patients/Residents and Commitment to Co-WorkersEmployee is educated and adheres to :Resident RightsHIPAAResident Abuse Reporting LawResident Unit Responsibilities:Makes unoccupied beds.Transports residents to and from dining rooms and other Activities in their wheelchairs.Cares and cleans the resident rooms, washes Mechanical Lift equipment during the shift.Assists in the Dining rooms to clear the tables after Intake and consumption of total consumptions of meals and liquids have been completed by the nursing staff.Stocks gloves and plastic bags in resident rooms, bathrooms and the shower rooms.Walks behind the nursing staff pushing resident's wheelchair while the Certified Nursing Assistants and nurses are walking the residents.Assists on units by reading to residents, playing cards and spending time with residents.Remove soiled linen from rooms and shower areas to Laundry chutes.Wash wheelchairs/ mechanical lift equipment when necessaryResident Care Responsibilities- Infection ControlDemonstrates Knowledge and implements of Universal PrecautionsHand Hygiene between resident contacts as appropriateGloves when handling soiled linen, proper glove removal and hand hygiene.Safe disposal of wastesDemonstrates ability to practice precautions when caring for and cleaning resident rooms and equipment.QualificationsPhysical Requirements:Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Compassion for residents, especially those in vulnerable situations.Ability to recognize and respond to signs of distress or illness in residents.Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and privacy.Willingness to adhere to ethical standards and report any concerns promptly.Education:High School Graduate or GEDRequired Skills and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Compassion for residents, especially those in vulnerable situations.Ability to recognize and respond to signs of distress or illness in residents.Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and privacy.Willingness to adhere to ethical standards and report any concerns promptly.
