Resident Project Representative I

At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. As we foster a culture of inclusion throughout our company and within our communities, we constantly ask ourselves: What is our impact on the world? Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. We believe building engineering is more than systems and structures, it's about powering progress and enabling innovation. As part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. From high-performance data centers driving the future of AI to dynamic commercial environments, your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience. Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings

Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems

Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until corrected

Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance

Assist with project audit/closeout

Work under general supervision of a more-senior Resident Project Representative or Design Project Manager

Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants

Preferred Qualifications:

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license

Previous data center construction experience with an engineering or consulting firm

Ability to read, interpret, and monitor construction schedules and project timelines

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and recommend practical solutions to the Engineer

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with contractors, clients, inspectors, and project team members

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a field environment

Willingness and ability to travel and work onsite at client locations as required

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience

Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects

Fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents

Ability to work in a team environment

Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Our Commitment:

As employee owners, we all have a role in creating an inclusive environment where each of us is welcomed, valued, respected and empowered to bring our authentic selves to work every day. Our eight Employee Network Groups (Asian Pacific, Black, Hispanic/Latino(a), LGBTQ+, People with Disabilities, Veterans, Women, Young Professionals) help create a sense of belonging and foster a supportive environment where everyone is empowered to engage and contribute.
