Job Summary and Responsibilities
nAs our Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will competently provide essential respiratory care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Your expertise is vital for critical respiratory interventions and patient well-being.
nEvery day you will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, mechanical ventilator operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration.
nTo be successful, you will possess advanced clinical skills in all aspects of respiratory care across age groups, meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to patient safety and infection control, and the ability to perform effectively in emergencies.
nnnPATIENT ASSESSMENT/REASSESSMENT
n
nnAccurately performs respiratory patient assessment.
n
nnAccurately performs appropriate skin assessment as required.
n
nnAccurately performs appropriate assessment for treatment modality.
n
nnAccurately performs the following routine procedures: ventilator management, aerosol therapy with or without medication; IPPB treatments; administration of aerosolized medications; perform humidity therapy; chest physiotherapy procedures; perform bedside spirometry, maintain artificial airways, administer medical gas and operate analyzers; patient/family education; administer pulse oximetry; performs MDI therapy and education; responds to emergency or 'stat' call throughout hospital; monitors vital signs.

nnAssists physicians with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, intubation, etc.
n
n nJob Requirements
nRequired:
nnnEducation level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications
n
nnOne year clinical experience in RCP II position or 5 years respiratory care experience including 3 in critical care.
n
nnExperience in the use of computers
n
nnRespiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire and
n
nnBasic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
n
nnAdvanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
n
nnPediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
n
nnNeonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire and
n
nnCertified Respiratory Therapist, upon hire and
n
nnStable Program, within 12 - months and
n
nnNeonatal-Pediatric Specialty Respiratory Therapist, upon hire

n nPreferred:
nnAssociates Of Science Respiratory Therapy, upon hire
n nPlease be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
