Job description
Respiratory Therapist
Minimum experience: 1 year; 1st timers are accepted. Patient population: infants to geriatrics (primarily adult RRT but will work with pediatric intubated patients). Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, GA RRT license. General skills and work setting requirements: Midtown is a level 2 trauma center, interventional stroke certified as well as a level 3 NICU. Our NICU is also the regional transport resource. Manages non invasive ventilation, conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, performs arterial lines, oxygen management, patient education, performs arterial blood gases, capillary blood gases, draws from lines. Trauma experience required. Pulmonary function testing (spirometry testing) preferred. Ratio/census: not specified. Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viaysis Avea. Scrub color: slate gray. RTO: MAX 7 days. Current nightshift blackout dates: June- total blackout, July: 5th-31st, August: 1st & 2nd. Current dayshift blackout dates: June- total blackout, July 15th-31st, August 1st- 9th. Weekends: every other weekend unless specified elsewhere. Floating: yes, within facility and sister campus as needed (Piedmont Columbus Northside). Call requirements: none. Holidays: if one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays. If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays. Major holidays are listed below: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Years Eve/New Years Day.
