Job description
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides respiratory care to patients, primarily in adult critical care and emergency department settings. This position involves working 3x12 night shifts, every other weekend, and participating in on-call duties as needed. The RRT will float within their scope of practice to meet facility needs and must be proficient in airway management, nebulizer therapy, oxygen therapy, and ventilator management. Cerner experience is required.

Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory treatments and therapies.
- Perform airway management, including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, and intubation assistance.
- Manage and troubleshoot various airway devices, including nasal and oral airways, and tracheostomies.
- Collect sputum specimens.
- Administer nebulizer treatments using handheld, T-piece, and trach collar methods.
- Provide oxygen therapy using bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), T-piece, trach collar, and Venturi masks.
- Manage ventilators, including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
- Troubleshoot high-pressure ventilator alarms.
- Monitor and document patient responses to respiratory treatments.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Document patient care activities in Cerner.
- Answer unit phone and direct calls accordingly.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Perform any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS certification.
- RRT certification.
- Active state license required to apply.
- Experience with Cerner.
- Adult Critical Care experience.

- Teaching Hospital Experience

Special Considerations:
- On-call required as needed for the department.
- Will float if needed.
Scheduling:
- 3x12 night shifts ).
- Will work every other weekend.
