nGENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
nnnProvides general and emergency respiratory therapy procedures to patients as directed by physicians and protocols.
n
nnProcedures include, but are not limited to, respiratory assessment, airway and ventilator management, bi-level non-invasive ventilation management pulmonary diagnostics, delivery of medicated aerosols, bronchial hygiene therapy, lung expansion therapy, intubation, CPR, bronchoscopy assistance, arterial line placement, arterial sampling and ABG analysis and interpretation.

nnDemonstrates the ability to assess changes in the patient’s clinical condition, make independent judgements, and modifies the care as necessary according to departmental policies and approved physician protocols.
n
nnRoutinely make rounds with physicians in critical care units. Acts as preceptor, actively supports, and constructively contributes to the development of new and existing staff members.

n nSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
nnnLicense to practice respiratory care in the state they are performing respiratory care services in (Idaho or Oregon).
n
nnRegistered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
n
nnAt hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
n
nnACLS/PALS within 6 months of hire.
n
n nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
nnnKnows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
n
nnDemonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable). Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
n
nnDemonstrates ability to recognize changes in patients and modifies care as necessary according to departmental standards and approved physician protocols.
n
nnPerforms airway and ventilator management, which includes assessment, application, intubation, monitoring, and evaluation of modality for infants, pediatrics, adolescences and adults.
n
nnPerforms arterial line insertions, ABG sticks, conducts ABG analysis and interprets results.
n
nnCompletes all mandatory-training requirements on time.
n
nnActs as preceptor to support and develop new and existing RT employees.
n
nnAssists the department manager with Performance Improvement projects and other duties as needed.
