Job Summary
nGeisinger is proud to offer Per Diem Respiratory Therapists up to $30.40 in minimum hourly base pay with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to an additional $5.50 in shift differential pay for evenings, nights, and weekend shifts!

n nJob Description:
nnnAssesses patients' respiratory care needs based on a variety of data. Plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates treatment modalities to meet those needs. Ensures the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction.
n
nnConsistently performs and documents thorough patient assessments.
n
nnEstablishes appropriate care plans.
n
nnCommunicates with other members of the patient care team.
n
nnCorrectly performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and assists with routine care and maintenance of artificial airways.
n
nnInitiates and manages conventional and high frequency mechanical ventilators according to established protocol.
n
nnProvides appropriate, age-specific, patient and family education as it relates to disease management.
n
nnAssists in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
n
nnResponsible for acute airway management in emergent situations.
n
nnSets up and manages non-invasive monitoring (i.e. ETCO monitors, pulse oximeters).
n
nnWhen care management not available, assists with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory related DME supplies, follows appropriate insurance guidelines.
n
nnAdheres to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
n
nnAdheres to institutional and nationally established standards of care.
n
nnCollects arterial blood gas samples and processes through point of care blood analyzers.
n
nnMaintains the confidentially of patient information according to established internal and external specifications and regulations including release of information and HIPAA.
n
nnFunctions as the Shift Coordinator (charge person) when designated as such after one year of employment.
n
nnAssists the medical team in the performance of fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures.
n
nnAssists the medical team with the placement invasive monitoring lines and obtains hemodynamic measurements and calculations.
n
nnAssists in the intra-hospital transport of age specific patient groups.
n
nnFunctions as a preceptor for orientees and students in their clinical rotation.
n

nCertified Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of hire - Neonatal Resuscitation Program; Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months - Default Issuing Body; Registered Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months - American Heart Association (AHA); Pediatric Life Support Certification within 6 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
