Job Summary
nGeisinger is proud to offer a full-time Respiratory Therapist Float up to a $30.40 minimum hiring rate, with increased rates based on experience level, up to an additional $6 in float premium on all hours worked, and up to an additional $5.50 in shift differential pay for evening, night, and weekend shifts. $7,500 in relocation assistance offered to eligible applicants! Must have the ability to float assignments between Geisinger Medical Center Danville, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital and Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, both day and night shift available.
nJob Duties
nnnConsistently performs and documents thorough patient assessments.
n
nnEstablishes appropriate care plans.
n
nnCommunicates with other members of the patient care team.
n
nnCorrectly performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and assists with routine care and maintenance of artificial airways.
n
nnInitiates and manages conventional and high frequency mechanical ventilators according to established protocol.
n
nnProvides appropriate, age-specific, patient and family education as it relates to disease management.
n
nnAssists in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
n
nnResponsible for acute airway management in emergent situations.
n
nnSets up and manages non-invasive monitoring (i.e. ETCO monitors, pulse oximeters).
n
nnWhen care management not available, assists with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory related DME supplies, follows appropriate insurance guidelines.
n
nnAdheres to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
n
nnAdheres to institutional and nationally established standards of care.
n
nnCollects arterial blood gas samples and processes through point of care blood analyzers.
n
nnMaintains the confidentially of patient information according to established internal and external specifications and regulations including release of information and HIPAA.
n
nnFunctions as the Shift Coordinator (charge person) when designated as such after one year of employment.
n
nnAssists the medical team in the performance of fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures.
n
nnAssists the medical team with the placement invasive monitoring lines and obtains hemodynamic measurements and calculations.
n
nnAssists in the intra-hospital transport of age specific patient groups.
n
nnFunctions as a preceptor for orientees and students in their clinical rotation.
n

n nPosition Requirements/Qualifications:
nnRequires 36 hours-weekly, 12-hour shifts. Both straight day shift positions and straight night shift positions available. Every other weekend and every other holiday. Minimum of 2 years of related work experience. Must have the ability to float assignments between Geisinger Medical Center Danville, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital and Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital
