Job description
Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift
This is a 13-week contract position.
Night shift - 4x12 hour shifts.
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport in and out of the facility as prescribed. This role involves assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and educating them on treatment procedures and equipment. The therapist operates various ventilatory equipment and conducts treatments to ensure proper ventilation and oxygenation, performs chest physiotherapy, and administers aerosol therapies and nebulizations.
Responsibilities
Evaluate patient respiratory status and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory and oxygen devices.
Perform suctioning, chest physiotherapy, and pulmonary function studies as per policy.
Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and chest tube placements.
Monitor patient's respiratory parameters and results of diagnostic tests.
Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and communicate with healthcare teams.
Ensure proper setup, testing, and maintenance of all respiratory therapy equipment.
Perform CPR and other emergency interventions according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Experience in a clinical setting, preferably with critical care patients.
