Respiratory Therapist - 3x12 Day Shift
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Best if 1pm - 9pm, 5 days a week.
Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed. This role includes evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, as well as providing necessary education at the time of discharge.
Responsibilities
Conduct physician prescribed treatments while operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices.
Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
Conduct suctioning of the patient using various methods.
Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation needs.
Assist in performing pulmonary function studies and other respiratory care procedures.
Carry out tracheostomy and endotracheal tube care as per policy.
Perform arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency.
Document all relevant treatments and patient responses accurately.
Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Current respiratory therapist license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
