Respite ProviderEmpowering people. Supporting independence. Inspiring dreams.Communitas is dedicated to delivering individualized, family-centered services, programs, and support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, throughout their lifespan and in their communities.Respite workers have the opportunity to give the parents/guardians of the participant a break from providing care for their participant. Respite Provider will be responsible for assisting the individual with tasks to be accomplished within their scheduled hours.Roles and responsibilities include:Engagement and assistance with the participantWork with individuals and families to achieve goals identified by the individual, family, and Family Support Program.Complete all necessary documentation to assure compliance with Communitas and DDS policies (documentation is very limited)Ensure the rights and dignity of all people supported is upheld at all timesDevelop and maintain supportive working relationships with program membersMaintaining strict confidentiality for all information, and facility operationsQualifications include:High school diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problemA valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI and fingerprinting.Benefits of working with us include:Comprehensive training opportunities and room for personal development and growth abound for motivated and dedicated candidates.Recognition and awards for performance.Unique characteristics of respite care include:The hours vary depending upon the individual and their family's needs.Respite providers generally often do not have consistent weekly schedules, the number of hours may vary.Once a Respite Provider commits to working a certain day/time, it is expected that they follow through with that commitment.Communitas currently has families in need of a Respite Provider all around the Middlesex area.
