A physician-owned rheumatology practice in Southwest Florida is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis, rheumatic, and autoimmune diseases. The practice integrates clinical care, infusion services, and clinical research, allowing physicians to provide comprehensive, specialized care in an outpatient setting.

Position Overview

A growing physician-owned rheumatology practice is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Rheumatologist to join its teams in the Sarasota/Venice area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking a patient-centered, outpatient-focused practice with strong clinical support, physician autonomy, and a favorable work/life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions.

Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management, biologic and infusion therapies, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications.

Perform procedures such as joint injections and aspirations when clinically appropriate.

Collaborate with medical assistants, infusion nurses, APPs, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

Coordinate patient care with primary care physicians and other specialists.

Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and disease management.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.

Review laboratory results, imaging, and diagnostic studies and communicate recommendations to patients.

Prescribe medications and monitor treatment response, including immunosuppressive and biologic therapies.

Collaborate with the infusion team regarding biologic and infusion treatments.

Provide clinical guidance and supervision to APPs and clinical staff as appropriate.

Participate in practice meetings, quality initiatives, and clinical improvement programs.

Maintain strong professional relationships with referring physicians and the medical community.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of Internal Medicine residency

Fellowship training in Rheumatology

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology

Valid and unrestricted Florida medical license, or eligibility to obtain one

Strong clinical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compassionate, patient-centered approach

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases

Ability to interpret diagnostic studies and develop comprehensive treatment plans

Experience with biologic and infusion therapies

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

EMR proficiency

Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development
