nUnder general supervision, the Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) applies elements of the nursing process in the provision of professional nursing care to all patients in accordance with accepted standards of practice for the Endoscopy GI Lab. The staff RN is responsible for assessing the patient's individual care needs and developing a plan of care based on this assessment. The RN is responsible for the facilitation of patient care delivery by effectively collaborating with other health care providers on an intra- and interdepartmental basis.
nPrimary Responsibilities:
nPlanning and Coordination of Patient Care:
nnnAssesses the health status of the patient in order to develop an individualized plan of care by collecting, categorizing and interpreting data (physical and psychosocial) from documented information, observation, patient/family interview and other health care team members
n
nnDevelops a nursing care plan based on the assessment of the patient that included nursing diagnosis, patient goals and nursing interventions necessary to achieve these goals
n
nnImplements the nursing care plan to provide optimal individualized care for the patient
n
nnDocuments nursing activities to provide a permanent record, for continuity of care, quality improvement and professional accountability
n
nnEstablishes and maintains a safe environment to protect the patient and the health care team by monitoring the patient (physiologically and psychologically) and the environment and by implementing safety procedures
n
nnCoordinates support services needed during endoscopy by anticipating and communicating patient and surgical team needs
n
nnCommunicates information to patient/family
n
nnEvaluates effectiveness of nursing care to determine degree of goal attainment by comparing patient outcomes with patient goals
n
nnInitiates appropriate behaviors unique to endoscopy nursing
n
n nPatient Interaction and Safety:
nnnIdentifies the patient to ensure that the patient, procedure and site correspond
n
nnPlans, supervises and assists with the transfer of the patient to protect the patient and personnel from injury
n
nnPositions the patient during diagnostic/therapeutic procedure while maximizing patient safety and comfort
n
nnEstablishes and maintains a clean environment to reduce the potential for infection by applying the principles of antisepsis, decontamination, disinfection, sanitation, sterilization and environmental monitoring
n
nnTeaches, supervises and applies principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions
n
nnOrganizes and coordinates supplies, equipment, and team members to maintain an efficient, effective and safe postoperative environment through ongoing patient and situation assessment, priority setting, procurement of supplies and arrangement of equipment, by teaching, directing, communicating and collaborating with health care team members and support service personnel
n
nnExecutes nursing activities to provide life support in an emergency situation by taking appropriate action and/or providing direction/assistance to health care team members
n
nnCommunicates information to recovery room personnel to promote continuity of care
n
n nClinical Duties:
nnnAssesses the health status of the patient in order to develop an individualized plan of care by collecting, categorizing and interpreting data (physical and psychosocial) from documented information, observation, patient/family interview and other health care team members

nnDevelops and implements a nursing care plan based on the assessment of the patient that included nursing diagnosis, patient goals and nursing interventions necessary to achieve these goals

nnCommunicates any necessary information and instructs the patient and family to assist the patient in the achievement of optimal health status
n
nnDocuments nursing activities to provide a permanent record, for continuity of care, quality improvement and professional accountability
n
nnEvaluates effectiveness of nursing care to determine degree of goal attainment by comparing patient outcomes with patient goals
n
nnExecutes nursing activities to provide life support in an emergency by taking appropriate action and/or providing direction/assistance to health care team members
n
nnAdministers medications and other modalities within the scope of practice as a Registered Nurse
n
nnParticipates in educational programs to enhance nursing knowledge
n

nRequired Qualifications:
nnnGraduation from an accredited school of nursing
n
nnActive Registered Nurse license through the Washington State Department of Health
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers (AHA)
n
nnAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 3 months of hire
n
n nPreferred Qualifications:
nnnMembership in the Society of Gastrointestinal National Association and certification by SGNA
n
nn2+ years of recent endoscopy lab or ICU, ED experience preferred. Demonstrated advanced level of achievement of performance standards for endoscopy nursing according to SGNA standards of care
n
nn1+ years of experience working as a Registered Nurse
n
n nPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29.00 to $52.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
