Job description
nnGENERAL SUMMARY
n
nnUnder the direction of a physician, the Cardiac Cath Lab RN assists in cardiac catheterization as well as vascular and interventional procedures. Reports to department leadership.
n
nnESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
n
nnAssists physician in all aspects of cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing, diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures following established policies, procedures and regulations.
n
nnEducates patients and families.
n
nnParticipates in research projects.
n
nnMaintains cardiac cath lab and other diagnostic equipment.
n
nnInitiates on-going quality assurance.
n
nnMaintains regulatory requirements.
n
nnAssists in establishing and updating cath lab policies and procedures.
n
nnPerforms other duties as assigned.
n
nnLICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
n
nnCurrent State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
n
nnMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
n
nnMust have an Associates in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience. BSN is preferred. Pediatric experience preferred.
n
nnKnowledge and skill in invasive procedures protocols, equipment and instrumentation specific to cardiac invasive procedures preferred.
n
nnInterpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with physicians, nursing personnel and other clinicians.
n
nnCPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
n
nnPALS and ACLS certification required and/or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
n
nnWORKING CONDITIONS
n
nnExpected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
n
