Job description

Lead the Future of Emergency and Critical Care in Whitefish At Logan Health Whitefish, we believe exceptional patient care starts with exceptional leadership. We are seeking an experienced healthcare leader to serve as our Director, Critical Care, providing strategic and operational leadership for our Emergency Department and Special Care Unit (SCU). This is an opportunity for a leader who is ready to make a meaningful impact — not only on day-to-day operations, but on the culture, performance, quality, and future of two critical areas of patient care. In this role, you will work closely with physicians, nursing leaders, medical staff, senior leadership, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure our teams have the leadership, resources, and support needed to deliver outstanding care. You will translate organizational strategy into action, identify opportunities for improvement, develop leaders, strengthen employee and physician engagement, and help shape the continued success of emergency and critical care services at Logan Health Whitefish.

Our Mission: Quality, compassionate care for all. Our Vision: Reimagine health care through connection, service and innovation. Our Core Values: Be Kind | Trust and Be Trusted | Work Together | Strive for Excellence.

We are seeking an experienced nurse leader to provide leadership for our Emergency Department and Special Care Unit (SCU). This is an opportunity for a strong clinical leader to join established, experienced teams and help shape the future of emergency and critical care services in our community. Our 9-bed Emergency Department cares for more than 12,000 patients annually and serves as a state-designated trauma center. Our 4-bed SCU provides specialized care within our critical access hospital.

What You'll Do

Provide leadership and oversight for Emergency Department and SCU operations.

Lead, develop and engage experienced clinical teams.

Partner with physicians, frontline leaders and interdisciplinary teams to support high-quality patient care.

Support trauma, cardiac and stroke initiatives.

Lead your teams through the upcoming implementation of a new electronic health record.

Support nursing excellence and organizational initiatives.

Oversee staffing, resources, quality, performance and departmental operations.

What We're Looking For We’re looking for a confident, collaborative nurse leader who can step into an established team, build trust and lead with credibility, accountability and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. Leadership experience matters more than title. We welcome experienced nurse leaders who have demonstrated the ability to lead people, manage clinical operations and make sound decisions in a complex healthcare environment. Emergency Department leadership experience is strongly preferred. Experience in trauma, critical access hospitals or other complex acute care environments is also valuable.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Five (5) years of relevant leadership experience required.

Current Montana RN License or a multistate compact license with authorization to practice nursing in Montana required.

Working knowledge of the healthcare environment, healthcare reform and care delivery systems as they apply to the clinical practices of the assigned areas.

Proficiency with electronic health records and computerized clinical documentation systems.

RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.

ALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.

PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.
