nJob Summary

nThe Supervisor, House - RN provides critical leadership during assigned shifts to oversee hospital operations and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. This role acts as the administrative point of contact during non-business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Supervisor coordinates patient flow, manages staffing, addresses emergencies, and ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards, serving as a resource for clinical and non-clinical staff.

nEssential Functions

nnnOversees hospital operations during assigned shifts, ensuring appropriate staffing levels across departments to meet patient care needs.

n

nnMonitors hospital census, coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers, and ensures optimal bed utilization.

n

nnActs as the administrative point of contact for staff, patients, and families during non-business hours, addressing inquiries, resolving conflicts, and providing support.

n

nnResponds to emergencies, crises, and critical patient care issues, coordinating resources and personnel to ensure safety and quality care.

n

nnServes as the incident commander in disaster situations until relieved by a senior leader, ensuring effective communication and resource allocation.

n

nnSupervises nursing staff, providing clinical guidance, oversight, and support to ensure proper delegation and care delivery.

n

nnPromotes efficient use of organizational resources to deliver cost-effective and safe patient care services.

n

nnEnsures compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, identifying and addressing deviations.

n

nnHandles patient and family complaints and inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and appropriate resolution strategies.

n

nnCompletes and validates the midnight census, ensuring accurate patient counts and bed status are reported.

n

nnConducts hospital rounds to assess staff and patient needs, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

n

nnFacilitates communication between staff, physicians, and administration to resolve issues and maintain operational efficiency.

n

nnProvides administrative decision-making support in the absence of department managers or senior administrators, escalating critical issues to the Administrator on Call (AOC) as needed.

n

nnIdentifies opportunities for performance improvement and assists in implementing initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient satisfaction.

n

nnMonitors and maintains an adequate supply of resources, ensuring staff have the tools necessary to provide quality care.

n

nnPerforms other duties as assigned.

n

nnMaintains regular and reliable attendance.

n

nnComplies with all policies and standards.

n nLeadership Responsibilities

nnnSupervision and Staff Management

nnSupervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.

n

nnSchedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.

n

nnAssists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.

n

nnStrategic Planning and Financial Oversight

n

nnAssists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.

n

nnMonitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.

n

nnMay contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

n

nnMay contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.

n

nnQuality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

n

nnEnsures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.

n

nnMay participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.

n

nnFollows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.

n

nnCollaboration and Communication

n

nnWorks closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.

n

nnStays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.

n

nnStaff Responsibilities

n

nnMay work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

n

n nQualifications

nnnAssociate Degree or higher in Nursing required

n

nn1-2 years of related experience in the profession required

n

nn1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

n

n nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

n nLicenses and Certifications

nnnRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required

nnBLS - Basic Life Support required and

nnACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required

n
