Job description
Mental Health Care AssistantAssist in the delivery of mental health care services and patient care management in our clinics under the direction of the mental health provider. High patient volumes demand someone who can give top notch patient care at a fast pace.Qualified candidate will be a graduate of a Medical Assistant or LPN Program. Must have current license to practice in the state of Iowa. BLS and Mandatory Reporting certification.Previous clinical experience preferred. New grads are welcome to apply.Strong interpersonal skills, strong computer skills. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate care.The following is a partial list of duties for this position.Assists with mental health care to patients.Greets patients and prepares them for examination.Aids provider during examination/consult of patients.Observes, records, and reports patient's conditions and reaction to drugs and treatments to provider.Responsible for obtaining and documenting medical histories, current medication lists, immunizations and vital signs in the medical record.Collection and preparation of specimens.Keeps exam and treatment rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, copy machine, calculator, facsimile, and scanners.Work is performed with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and read printed information.
