Registered Nurse – PACU Travel Position
Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4x10s Nights
Pay:
$2,574/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Albany, NY on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will care for patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and smooth post-operative recovery process. The ideal candidate is skilled in post-anesthesia assessment, patient monitoring, and rapid interventions in a fast-paced PACU environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients in the immediate post-anesthesia period.
Monitor vital signs, airway patency, and patient responses to anesthesia and analgesics.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management interventions as prescribed.
Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
Assess, document, and report patient progress and any complications in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and post-operative care instructions.
Maintain adherence to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and PACU best practices.
Qualifications
Current and valid RN license in New York (or compact eligibility).
Minimum 1–2 years of recent PACU or critical care nursing experience in an acute care setting.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); PALS preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Compassionate and adaptable approach to patient care.
COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
