Job Overview
Employment Status: Full time
Shift: Night (United States of America)
Location: 2900 Lamb Cir, Christiansburg, VA
Requisition Number: R – RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights (Open)
Sign‑On Bonus: $15,000 for experienced RNs, $10,000 for new graduate RNs.
Compensation Range: $33.52 – $50.28 per hour (based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience). This range excludes benefits and pension plan.
Responsibilities
As a registered nurse, you will:
Provide individualized care for patients of all ages, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Conduct age‑specific admissions and ongoing assessments, document findings, and develop a plan of care.
Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop and adjust an interdisciplinary plan of care.
Accurately administer and document treatments and medications using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
Identify and address patient/family educational needs, incorporating them into care plans.
Serve as a patient advocate, protecting patient rights and providing psychological, social, and cultural support.
Apply knowledge of growth and development to care for patients across the lifespan.
Contribute to performance‑improvement activities and quality initiatives.
Model clinical excellence, mentor students and physicians, and guide new staff during orientation.
Utilize problem‑solving methods to resolve patient and personnel issues.
Manage resources, set priorities, and adjust the environment to meet patient needs.
Complete manager/director projects within specified time frames and guidelines.
Qualifications
Graduate from a professional nursing school at an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
AHA BLS‑HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on unit.
Proficient in electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
Experience with diverse patient populations across all ages.
