RN Telemetry Job Description
RN Telemetry roles involve monitoring and assessing patients’ cardiac status, ensuring safety, and providing acute care in a specialized telemetry unit, with requirements for acute care experience, licensure, and certifications.
Core Job Duties
As a Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry , you will:
Monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, interpreting ECG data and identifying changes that require immediate intervention.
Assess and manage patients with cardiac conditions, including acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, and other cardiovascular issues.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other specialists, to develop and implement care plans.
Educate patients and families about cardiac care, medication management, and lifestyle changes.
Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and elevate as needed.
Qualifications
Typical requirements include:
Active RN license in the state of facility
Minimum 1–2 years of acute care hospital experience (some postings specify 2 years for full-time Resource Pool roles.
Degree from an accredited nursing school.
Appropriate certifications for telemetry (e.g., CCRN, cardiac monitoring certifications) as required by the facility.
Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
