Unit ManagerUnit Managers are primarily responsible for overseeing day to day patient care, supervising, directing and developing nurse staff, and reporting to the Director of Nursing to ensure quality patient care within a long-term care center, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community. Unit Managers are liaisons between residents and their families. Unit Managers are tasked with ensuring their unit complies with federal and state regulatory standards and follows company policies and procedures.Responsibilities include identifying patient service requirements, maintaining nursing guidelines, assuring quality of care, maintaining nursing staff, establishing a compassionate environment, promoting patient's independence, resolving patient needs, maintaining safe and clean working environment, protecting patients and employees, maintaining documentation of patient care services, achieving financial objectives, ensuring operation of medical and administrative equipment, maintaining nursing supplies inventory, maintaining professional and technical knowledge, maintaining a cooperative relationship among health care teams, and assisting in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement process.Qualifications include holding a valid RN License in the state working, LTC experience preferred, basic computer skills, excellent communication skills, minimum 5+ years nursing experience in a hospital, nursing home or other healthcare setting and a minimum 1-year experience as a nurse supervisor, CPR/BLS certified, and strong knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care centers.Supervisory responsibilities include supervising the nursing personnel and the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during an assigned tour of duty.Work environment includes operating in a health care setting, regular walking to various locations around the care center, exposure to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens, working extended periods of time at a video display terminal, experiencing traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients, working beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, and staying or returning to facility during emergency conditions.Physical requirements include talking and hearing, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day, and frequently lifting or moving objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.No travel is expected for this position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening in accordance with state regulations.
