Job description

Robot WelderDalton Ag is a brand forged in America's heartland and proud to be the premier fertilizer application equipment manufacturer since 1996. A Robot Welder's primary responsibility is the setup and operation of welding robots to complete welds on steel products.Each job must be run with safety, accuracy, and timeliness in the welding area.RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities:Robot welding including the following:Operation of robotic welder, understanding program sequencing, finished work dimensions, numerical controlCalculate machine speed, feed ratios, size and position of cutsCreate quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols)Inspect welds for accuracy & qualityBasic mechanical knowledge and use of hand tools, following instructions, and welding productsRemove finished material to change tooling, setup, or material placement, according to required machining sequencesFamiliarize with machine during operation to detect sounds indicating dull cutting tools or excessive vibrationAbility to troubleshoot machine malfunctionsOperator is responsible for any re-work or corrections necessary to ensure product meets specificationsLoad and unload material manually and using hoists or cranesCheck to ensure that material is properly lubricated and cooled during machine operationQuality check finished product to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixturesClean machines, tooling, and parts, using solventsMount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and material on the machine, using hand tools and precision measuring instrumentsMaintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.Performs manual welding during robot weld cyclePrepare future jobs while robot is operating to minimize robot down timeMust be willing to work extended hours or shifts as requestedWill be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of manufacturing plantRequired to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance systemKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:High school diploma, certificate in welding preferredMinimum of 2 years' experience operating a robotic welderCandidates must pass basic MIG welding testBasic math and computer skillsStrong mechanical aptitude with ability to follow precise instructions and ability to read blueprintsWorking knowledge of measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors and tape measurePhysical Expectations:The physical requirements described here are representative of an employee able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
