The Roofing Technician evaluates roof conditions, diagnoses issues, executes repairs using various roofing materials and techniques, and maintains detailed documentation of all work performed. The role requires analyzing information from multiple sources to plan and prioritize work, ensure compliance with building codes and manufacturer specifications, and collaborate effectively with other technicians and engineers to maintain safe, functional roofing systems across industrial facilities.Your day-to-day tasks will include:Inspect building roofs to locate leaks, assess damage, and determine optimal repair methods while documenting roof conditions and maintenance activitiesRepair and maintain roofing systems using modified plastics, elastomeric compositions, asphaltic materials, and waterproofing membranes on both low-slope and steep-slope roofsInstall and repair roof components including vapor barriers, insulation layers, flashing, skylights, solar panels, and attic ventilation systems according to specificationsSet up scaffolding for safe roof access, clean and maintain equipment, and clear gutters and drains to ensure proper drainageMeasure roof dimensions, calculate material quantities, review building plans, and estimate costs, time, and resources needed for roofing projectsPerform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on roofing systems while ensuring compliance with building codes, manufacturer requirements, and environmental protection standardsPrepare supply orders, maintain daily reports and records, schedule and coordinate work activities, and assist in preparing project and departmental budgetsPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Must be able to walk and inspect roofs and roof-related structures regularlyRequired to set up and work from scaffolding and elevated platformsMust be capable of working at heights on various roof types and slopesPhysical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver roofing materials and equipmentMust be able to operate spray guns, air compressors, heaters, and hand tools including brushes, knives, punches, and hammersWork is performed outdoors in various weather conditions and may involve exposure to extreme temperaturesMust be willing and able to work overtime and respond to emergency call-ins as neededRequired Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDFive years of experience with roofing and general building maintenance activities in an industrial settingProficient knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures for roofing system installation and maintenanceDemonstrated expertise in both low-slope and steep-slope roofing systems and repair techniquesCompetency in basic mathematics including fractions, addition, subtraction, and divisionAbility to follow all safety policies and procedures at all times without exceptionValid certifications or licenses as required by local regulations for roofing workPreferred Qualifications:Technical College or Trade Program completion, with Journeyman Roofer certification preferredComputer proficiency including corporate email, spreadsheets, word processing, and engineering drawing databasesExperience with solar panel installation and attic ventilation system installation on existing structuresStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound decision-making abilitiesEffective verbal, written, presentation, and listening communication skillsTeam building skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with technicians, supervisors, and engineersProven ability to work independently with effective time management skills and contribute recommendations for work method improvementsThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
