Job description
POSITION TITLE: EMS/Safety Coordinator REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Plant Manager
PAY STRUCTURE: Hourly
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: To prepare, facilitate, monitor, and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system. Ensure compliance with internal policies and ISO 14001 requirements.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Proficient with Microsoft Office and common business software
Knowledge of document control systems and best practices
Strong analytical skills and sound judgment
Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to lead and sustain continuous improvement initiatives
Solid understanding of customer safety and compliance expectations
Current CPR and First Aid certification
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EHS Program Management
Maintain and oversee the EMS/Safety (EHS) system, ensuring all associated documentation is current, accurate, and controlled
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures aligned with company goals, regulatory requirements, and ISO 14001/45001 standards
Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions
Track and assess the effectiveness of EHS programs; recommend and implement improvements
Maintain accurate and compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and drills
Serve as the primary contact for regulatory audits, inspections, and permit processes
Training & Communication
Develop and deliver training programs on topics including emergency response, safe work practices, and environmental awareness
Provide EHS training during new hire orientation
Communicate updates on regulations, performance metrics, and best practices
Collaborate across departments to drive ergonomic and wellness improvements
Employee Engagement & Safety Culture
Foster a culture of safety by engaging employees at all levels in EHS initiatives
Support or lead safety and environmental improvement projects
Investigate incidents and near misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions
General Expectations
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information
Comply with all Corvac policies regarding safety and professional conduct
Collaborate with team leaders, maintenance, and quality to resolve EHS-related issues
