Job description
This is your opportunity to own, shape, and elevate a manufacturing safety program from the ground up.
Job Description:
We are hiring a hands-on Safety Manager to lead the next chapter of our safety program in Thorp, Wisconsin. This is not a desk-bound compliance position. You will build relationships across our multi-shift operation, assess current risks and systems, and create a practical roadmap for lasting improvement.

Responsibilities:
Serve as our safety subject matter expert and champion a proactive, people-first culture.
Assess current programs, risks, and gaps, then build a prioritized six-to-twelve-month improvement plan.
Lead job hazard analyses, risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Own critical programs such as lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, hazard communication, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, and hearing conservation.
Build practical training, toolbox talks, safety committee routines, and engagement initiatives across all shifts.
Track near misses, TRIR, DART, training completion, and corrective action closure to guide improvements.
Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and HR on equipment changes, emergency preparedness, workers' compensation, and regulatory readiness.
Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
A bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered.
A demonstrated ability to improve safety culture through trust, coaching, collaboration, and influence rather than top-down enforcement.
Practical experience with OSHA compliance, investigations, audits, risk assessments, training, and corrective action management.
The confidence to maintain a visible floor presence and build relationships across multiple shifts.
A genuine people-first mindset and the judgment to intervene when conditions create unacceptable risk.
Experience in wood products manufacturing, multi-shift operations, or building a safety program is a strong advantage.
