Safety SupervisorBirmingham, ALCRST is one of the nation's largest transportation and logistics companies, providing a wide range of transportation solutions across North America. This role sits within our Flatbed Solutions business unit and partners with independent contractors, agents, Operations, Maintenance, Compliance, and support teams to help promote safe, compliant operations across the business. The role supports safety programs, training, evaluations, and continuous improvement efforts that help protect people, equipment, and our customers.The Opportunity If you're passionate about transportation safety and enjoy working directly with people, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day. You'll help support safe operating practices across Flatbed Solutions by delivering training, reviewing safety trends, conducting evaluations and inspections, and partnering with independent contractors, agents, and operational teams to address risks before they become problems. This is a highly visible role where you'll spend time educating, coaching, evaluating, and helping others apply safety best practices in real-world situations.How You'll WorkLocation: Onsite in Birmingham, ALJob Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM or 7:00 AM-4:00 PM)Compensation: Competitive compensation package. Additional details will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and other company-sponsored programs.What You'll DoDeliver and support safety orientation, recurring training, and educational programs for independent contractors, agents, trainers, and support teamsReview inspections, citations, incidents, and safety information to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvementCommunicate safety, regulatory, contractual, and operating requirements while coordinating appropriate follow-up activitiesConduct safety observations, ride-alongs, operating evaluations, and field assessmentsInspect equipment, loads, freight securement, yards, facilities, and operational areas to identify potential safety concernsMaintain training, inspection, qualification, and compliance documentationPartner with Operations, Maintenance, Compliance, independent contractors, agents, and support teams to promote consistent safety practices across the businessRecommend practical improvements to training, communication, equipment, and operating practices based on safety findingsReview and provide guidance to independent contractors, agents, and internal staff on open deck cargo securement, and permitted over-dimensional loadsSupport Gold Standard safety performance through education, prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives.What Great Looks LikeSafety concerns are identified early and addressed through effective follow-upTraining programs are delivered consistently and documentation is accurate and completeIndependent contractors, agents, and support teams understand and apply safety expectationsSafety trends are analyzed proactively and used to improve operating practicesStrong partnerships are built across teams to support a culture of safety and accountabilityCompliance requirements are consistently met while supporting efficient operationsWhat You BringHigh school diploma or equivalentExperience in transportation safety, fleet operations, regulatory compliance, training, or a related fieldExperience in open deck load securement, and with permitted over-dimensional size and weight freightWorking knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation safety requirementsAbility to review safety information, identify risks, document findings, and recommend appropriate follow-up actionsAbility to deliver training, communicate safety requirements, and work effectively with independent contractors, agents, and internal teamsGoing the Extra MileAssociate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExperience supporting independent contractors, agents, or multiple transportation operating modelsExperience delivering orientation, safety training, or other adult learning programsExperience evaluating commercial vehicles, trailers, loads, freight securement, or operational environmentsExperience using safety, compliance, training, telematics, or event-recording systemsKnowledge of FMCSA regulationsExperience using safety, compliance, training, telematics, or event-recording systemsCore ValuesSafety at the Core of All We DoIntegrity in Every Decision and ActionCommitment to the Success of Employees, Customers, Agents, Contractors and CommunitiesEqual Opportunity Employer: CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
