Job description
Position OverviewThis classification performs technical accounting and clerical duties for both Court and non-court functions. This classification requires the ability to work independently in a remote satellite office carrying out designated functions of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Satellite Supervisor and involves significant customer contact, public information, and the ability to work independently.Essential Job FunctionsThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Accepts and processes payments for criminal fines, traffic citations, recording of documents and driving record printouts.Performs cashiering functions in accepting and receipting payments for a variety of fees, fines, and charges. Balance daily receipts to monies and credit card payments received.Issue marriage licenses, solemnize marriage ceremonies and complete marriage certificates.Accept passport applications for the United States Department of State in accordance with Passport Acceptance Rules and Regulations. Prepare transmittals and send passport applications to the United States Department of State daily. Take required annual passport training and pass exam for annual certification.Assists customers in processing court documents, reviewing public records and other property related research.Gives information and answers questions, helping the public process forms, relating to Clerk processes.Process court documents in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements.Assures that documents are scanned properly, in correct order, check for straightness, missing pages, make sure images are as clear as possible and confidential information is redacted.Ability to properly answer phone and wait on customers.Provides the public information on the services and programs of the Clerk's Office.Types and files pleadings, correspondence, documents, and other documents as required.Process incoming and outgoing mail.Answer inquiries and resolve complaints in person and/or over the telephone.Keep workspace and office clean, organized, and functional.Other duties as assigned.The Collier Clerk values the team building benefits of regular in-person onsite collaboration.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of clerical experience in the court environment including significant public contact; bilingual ability is desirable.Licenses, Certifications, or RegistrationsMust possess a valid driver's license.Must be able to be certified to handle passports.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesFlorida Statutes, Department of Revenue Rules pertinent to area(s) of assignment.Legal documents recorded, recording requirements, and Indexing rules.Office procedures, methods, and equipment.Cashiering operations, collection documentation and procedures.Clerk's programs, functions, departments, and services to appropriately respond to service requests.Clerk record keeping systems, practices, and procedures.US Department of State guidelines for Passport Acceptance.
