Job description
Saw Operator (2nd Shift, Earle M. Jorgensen)The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup and operation of various metal cutting saws to cut materials per work orders. This position may work independently or as part of a team and must follow all company policies and safety procedures.Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Essential Job DutiesOperate overhead and/or wall walker crane using remote or pendant controls.Secure appropriate rigging devices (chains, straps, hooks, magnets, etc.) for lifting materials.Transport materials using crane or material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.Perform safety inspections and complete applicable checklists.Set up and operate saws to cut materials per specifications; observe multiple saws as needed.Use hand tools to measure and verify material dimensions and quality.Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing.Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges.Label and package products for shipping using appropriate materials and banding equipment.Perform maintenance tasks such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries.Maintain a clean and safe work environment including sweeping shavings and clearing debris.Participate in safety, quality, and job training sessions.This role is classified as Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Warehouse/Field setting; minimal temperature environment.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment preferred.Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools.Basic math and computer skills.Strong attention to detail and safety practices.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical ability to perform tasks associated with medium work.Reliance, Inc.
