Job description
SCADA Project Manager (Water Treatment )
Employment Type: Contract (approximately 6 months; extension possible)
Location: South Florida (Broward County); hybrid onsite
Start: Immediate
Rate: Competitive, based on experience
About the Role
Our client, a large organization with multiple sites across Florida, is seeking a SCADA Project Manager to lead a high priority project implementing a SCADA network at a water treatment facility and the work will expand to additional sites across the state. The project is partway through delivery and needs a dedicated, proactive project manager to take ownership of the plan, tighten the schedule, and drive it to completion by year end.
This is a project management role, not a hands on engineering role. The client's plant staff and a SCADA specialist already understand how the system should work. The PM provides the coordination, structure, and accountability to get it finished. The right person understands SCADA well enough to direct the teams and challenge the vendor, and is confident enough to hold their ground in a room with strong opinions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the pilot implementation through completion and support planning for expansion to other sites
Own the project plan, schedule, budget, resources, risks, issues, and change control
Recover the schedule and hold the year end deadline
Coordinate internal network, systems, and information security teams, plant and operations stakeholders, and an outside integrator
Identify dependencies and blockers early and escalate them with clear options
Hold vendors accountable to scope, schedule, and deliverables
Run status meetings and deliver regular reporting and project documentation using a waterfall hybrid approach
Plan testing and cutover around plant operations, where an outage leaves a limited window to respond
Travel to other sites as needed
Qualifications
Proven project management experience on SCADA or industrial control system projects
Working understanding of SCADA architecture and industrial networks, enough to direct technical teams and challenge a vendor (hands on configuration is not required)
Experience coordinating IT, security, operations, and outside vendors on a single project
Strong planning, resource allocation, documentation, and status reporting skills
Proactive and confident; comfortable pushing back and escalating
Some water or wastewater experience preferred; candidates from power or industrial SCADA will be considered
Available to start immediately
Hybrid onsite schedule in South Florida; fully remote is not available
Preferred
PMP
Experience with Wonderware (AVEVA) environments
Experience with government or municipal organizations
