Job description
Step into a rewarding contract role as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supporting students in an elementary school setting. This position covers a maternity leave starting August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, with a flexible commitment of 21-28 hours per week across 3-4 days onsite. You'll have the meaningful opportunity to help students in self-contained autism programs achieve greater independence and success through direct treatment and close collaboration with school personnel.
Desired Background & Skills:
Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program
Certified or eligible for certification by the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA) and licensed as a COTA in Illinois
Previous experience in pediatric or school-based OT strongly preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to student and team needs
Key Responsibilities: Deliver occupational therapy services to eligible students aligned with IEP goals
Collaborate with special educators and classroom teams to foster student access, participation, and functional skill development
Focus efforts within self-contained autism programs, tailoring interventions for a range of student needs
Document progress and contribute recommendations for effective individualized support
Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment within the school community
