Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting a student with special healthcare needs in a school-based contract role. This opportunity is ideal for an RN or LPN with experience in schools and a strong background in caring for students with special medical requirements, particularly those needing frequent tracheostomy suctioning.
This position is located near Prior Lake, MN, and begins as soon as possible, continuing through the end of December with the potential for extension into the following semester. The assignment involves providing one-on-one nursing support, including riding the bus with the student to and from school each day. You’ll start your workday by meeting at the student’s home for transportation.
Key Qualifications:
Current RN or LPN license in Minnesota
Prior experience with pediatric tracheostomy care and suctioning required
School nursing background or special needs training preferred
Comfortable working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Strong communication and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care and tracheostomy management for a student with special needs
Monitor, assess, and document the student’s health status throughout the day
Ride the bus with the student, ensuring a safe and supportive ride to and from school
Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other healthcare providers as needed
Maintain accurate records and comply with all district and state guidelines
This is a full-time contract position (35+ hours a week, including bussing), providing an essential service for a student in need. Interviews are scheduled virtually and offers will be made promptly for well-qualified candidates.
