Job description
Embrace a dynamic role supporting student health as a Certified School Nurse (CSN) where collaboration and expert care make a difference every day. Work full-time for the entire school year in a contract position near Waukegan, IL, overseeing the nursing operations across four school buildings-each staffed with its own building RN.
Ideal candidates will bring a comprehensive understanding of school nursing, along with a passion for student well-being and a readiness to serve as a knowledgeable mentor and advocate within the educational setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential mandatory
Experience in a school setting highly valued
Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and support other nursing professionals
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to analyze and interpret medical documentation for educational settings
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and provide guidance to dedicated RNs in four separate school buildings
Serve as a resource and support for building-based nursing staff
Attend and contribute to IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings
Conduct thorough medical reviews for student IEPs
Complete initial and re-evaluation assessments as needed (no ongoing student caseload)
Ensure compliance with school health requirements and best practices
