Job description
Elementary School Nurse
Step into a dynamic elementary school environment and make a difference in young students lives as a dedicated RN or LPN. This part-time contract opportunity near West Warwick, RI, offers rewarding work within a supportive district focused on student wellbeing and community engagement. You'll enjoy a steady daytime schedule with 20 hours per week, allowing for a work-life balance, while serving one elementary school site.
Starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 20th, you'll collaborate closely with school staff, parents, and other professionals to foster a healthy, safe, and positive learning atmosphere for children.
What you'll need to succeed:
Active RN or LPN license in Rhode Island
Experience providing nursing care to elementary-age children (preferred)
Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in a fast-paced school setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, dependable, and adaptable to evolving student needs
School-based nursing or pediatric experience is a plus
Key responsibilities:
Provide high-quality nursing care to elementary students including administering medication, monitoring chronic conditions, and responding to health emergencies
Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure individualized healthcare plans are implemented
Maintain accurate health records and documentation according to school and state guidelines
Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics
Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding student health concerns
